We had a fantastic trip to the Rural Life Centre, where we learnt all about what life was like for the Victorians! We first started in the village hall, where we learnt what life was like before electricity.
The children had a go at completing jobs, like cleaning the steps, dusting, beating the rug and polishing! It was really hard work!
Next we headed over to the school and sat at benches that were nearly 100 years old!
Here we found out that most children shared not only a room, but a bed with their brothers and sisters! One family had all 10 children in one room with only two beds. We learnt about the problem with going to the toilet at nighttime, and how some toilets had two seats!!
After lunch, we split into two groups and went to see Victorian shops and a man making wooden toys. We even found the double toilet!
